Herb and Sandie are determined to make serious wine, the type that wins medals in competitions and garners praise in the wine press. They followed through with their first 2001 vintage. The Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bush Vine Grenache all drew silver and bronze medals at local and national wine shows, and scored high ratings in Australian Winestate magazine. In 2004 Foggo Wines gained Gold Medals with Australias Best Boutique Wine Cabernet 2002 and Gold for the Old Bush Vine Grenache 2002

Wine of the Show Boutique Wine Awards
Thursday, July 1, 2004
Foggo Wines of McLaren Vale, South Australia scoops the pool at the 2004 Australian Boutique Wine Awards.
Over 900 wines were entered in the Show from Boutique Wineries Australia wide. Foggo Wines won the major award, Best Wine of the Show for its 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, Best Boutique Cabernet and Best Boutique Estate Grown and Produced Wines, and other Foggo Wines presented at the show won medals.
Herb says “We are so thrilled to win these awards and it is testimony to years of hard work, and dedication by my family and small team at Foggo Wines.
It is a great honour to win an award of this calibre as we are all small batch winemakers (less than 250 tonnes) who enter our wines in this show. It also was very satisfying to win with a straight varietal such as Cabernet Sauvignon."
